Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our services, process, and how we help companies connect with investors.

Does American Pillar make direct investments?

American Pillar executives and shareholders include both family offices and broker-dealers. In some instances, American Pillar shareholders will participate as investors in client companies.

While American Pillar does not operate a dedicated investment fund, our Managing Partner Andrew Filipek manages approximately $100 million in client capital as a registered Wedbush Securities broker. This capital is often allocated to promising client companies, providing an additional pathway to funding beyond our investor introductions. We also have members of our board of directors and investors that allocate via their family offices. In total, our "insider" capital exceeds $300 million.

What is the story behind the name "American Pillar"?

The name "American Pillar" reflects our founding mission: to serve as a pillar of support for international companies seeking to establish themselves in the American market.

Before establishing our foothold in capital acquisition, American Pillar started as a consultancy helping international companies—primarily from Poland—achieve a soft landing in Silicon Valley. We provided the foundational support these companies needed to navigate the complexities of the U.S. market, from regulatory requirements to investor expectations.

With a primarily Polish founding team, we are both Polish and American patriots who dreamed of bridging Central Europe with the innovation and capital of Silicon Valley. This transatlantic vision remains at the heart of everything we do.

Today, while we've expanded our services globally and work with companies from all geographies, our name serves as a reminder of our roots: providing a stable, reliable foundation—a pillar—for ambitious companies to build upon as they pursue growth and capital.

What is American Pillar's mission?

Our mission is to democratize access to capital by connecting promising companies with qualified investors, regardless of geography or background.

We believe that great ideas and strong teams deserve access to the capital they need to grow—whether they're based in San Francisco, Warsaw, Toronto, or anywhere else in the world. Too often, founders without existing networks or "warm introductions" struggle to get in front of the right investors.

American Pillar exists to level that playing field. We leverage our decades of relationships to open doors that would otherwise remain closed, providing our clients with direct access to partners, directors, and decision-makers at leading investment firms.

Our ultimate goal is to help build the next generation of successful companies while strengthening the economic ties between the United States, Europe, and the global innovation economy.

What types of companies do you work with?

We work with companies across all stages, industries, and geographies. Our client base includes:

  • Stage: Pre-seed through public companies
  • Industries: Technology, healthcare, biotech, consumer products, financial services, and more
  • Geography: Companies based in the United States, Europe, Canada, Asia, and beyond

Whether you're raising your first round or preparing for an IPO, we have the relationships and expertise to help.

How is American Pillar different from other IR firms?

Unlike many investor relations firms that rely on purchased databases, our network of 2,400+ qualified investors was cultivated through decades of personal relationships and successful transactions.

We provide direct introductions to partners, directors, and decision-makers—not junior associates or gatekeepers. Our relationships span venture capital firms, family offices, angel investors, broker networks, and strategic partners across 6 continents.

Additionally, our team has over 45 years of combined experience in capital markets, giving us deep expertise that many competitors lack.

What is the Systematic Risk Evaluation (SRE)?

The Systematic Risk Evaluation is our proprietary assessment that evaluates your company through the eyes of institutional investors. We analyze 9 key risk metrics to determine your investment readiness and provide a qualification tier:

  • Friends & Family / Angel Qualified: Early-stage companies suitable for personal network and individual angel investors
  • Micro VC / Syndicate Qualified: Companies ready for smaller institutional checks and angel syndicates
  • Family Office Qualified: Companies meeting the due diligence standards of single and multi-family offices
  • Venture Capital Qualified: Companies ready for institutional VC due diligence and investment

The SRE helps identify potential red flags before investor meetings, provides actionable recommendations to strengthen your investment story, and ensures we target the right investor tier for your current stage.

How long does the fundraising process typically take?

The timeline varies based on several factors including your company's stage, the amount being raised, market conditions, and investor appetite for your sector. Generally:

  • Seed/Angel rounds: 2-4 months
  • Series A-C: 3-6 months
  • Later stage/Pre-IPO: 4-8 months

Our direct relationships with decision-makers help accelerate this process by bypassing traditional gatekeepers and getting you in front of the right people faster.
